Evening Wedding Invitation Wording
The majority of weddings will have the traditional wedding breakfast for close friends and family immediately after the marriage service, with an evening reception for extended friends and family in the evening. It’s imperative to make it clear on your invitations that the recipients are only being invited to the evening soiree. The last thing you want to deal with is the embarrassment of all of your evening guests turning up at your wedding breakfast.
A formal Evening-Only invite traditionally, should read along the lines of:
Mr & Mrs James Jones
request the pleasure of
{guest name / your company}
at a reception to celebrate the marriage of their daughter
Joanna
To
Mr Jonathan Johnson
{location}
{date}
{time 7.00 pm for example}
RSVP by 15th May to {parent’s address}
If your wedding is less formal:
Jennifer and James
invite you to an evening of drinks and dancing
to celebrate their wedding!
