As a friend of Daisy Chain Invites, by now you’ve hopefully realised that you can still have great quality without a huge budget – our invites are a great example of this. This week we’re dedicating our blog to honeymoons with this theme and looking at beautiful, but affordable, honeymoon destinations.
Majorca
Majorca is a popular Mediterranean destination well known for its idyllic beaches, stunning mountains, fabulous local cuisine. The fashionable capital, Palma, is perfect for couples that are looking for a lively break with plenty to see and do. What’s more there is a huge range of choice when it comes to accommodation from hotels to beautifully restored farmhouses with private pools in Sencelles and Selva.
Here’s just a selection of our favourites Barcelo Illetas Albatros and Hotel Salvia that offer fantastic quality yet can be enjoyed for under £2000.
Portugal
When compared to the rest of Europe, Portugal is one of the most budget-friendly destinations but that doesn’t mean it has any less culture or history to absorb! With a wealth of fishing villages, ancient castles, vineyards and olive groves this charming country has so much to offer. What’s more, the local cuisine is rich with seafood, fresh olive oil and world-renowned wines that you can indulge.

Croatia
Croatia boasts unbelievable beaches and beautiful medieval architecture offering some of the most breath-taking scenic views Europe has to offer.
The peninsula of Istria is packed with seductive hill towns that feature all stone archways, winding streets and secret gardens. Whilst the island of Hvar sits in the Adriatic and has miles of beaches plus medieval architecture and great nightlife.
Here’s a couple of our favourites in Croatia Villa Dubrovnik and Grand Villa Argentina
Ireland
Think tranquil B&B’s, lush countryside landscapes, historic castles and charming villages. Whilst perhaps on the slightly more unusual honeymoon destinations Ireland offers the opportunity to achieve a budget-friendly yet romantic honeymoon.
Fly in to Dublin and spend lap up the rich history the City has to offer and then head out to explore the stunning countryside and popular attractions like the Cliffs of Moher and the River Shannon.
Now for some of our top tips that may help you save even more on your honeymoon…
Flaunt it
Tell your travel agent, tour operator or hotel that this is your honeymoon – you may be surprised by how many extras are thrown in.
Barter
Don’t be afraid to barter on room price and extra’s with your travel agent, to make sure that you get the best deal possible for your budget.
DIY Luxury
You might not be flying business or first class, but you can buy a lounge passes relatively cheaply with companies. Don’t forget, dependent on where you are travelling, you can also buy duty free champagne at the airport.
Honeymoon Vouchers
If you are planning to book a honeymoon after your wedding, ask your guests for wedding gift vouchers as their present to you. Holiday Gift Cards purchased from High Street Vouchers gives access to over 200 of the world’s leading tour operators and can be spent on package holidays, UK breaks, cruises, hotels, car hire, hotels with airport parking and much more
Book Early
Gone are the days when you could pick up a low cost, last minute holiday as tour operators and hotels are noting that guests are booking later and later. For the best honeymoon deals and to give yourself extra time to save up, book your honeymoon well in advance.
Exchange Rates
Choose a destination where the exchange rate is good and keep an eye on currency prices well in advance of your honeymoon, so you can buy your holiday currency at the best rates.
All Inclusive
All-inclusive holidays offer extra peace of mind as you won’t need to spend your special break worrying about the number of cocktails you order or how much dinner will be each night. All-inclusive hotels have come a long way over the years and there are super stylish hotels offering gourmet cuisine in a choice of restaurants. Depending on the all-inclusive, you can also enjoy water-sports, cookery lessons, spa treatments and excursions in your package.
